ABOUT

Zara Davis is a ceramic artist and summa cum laude graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology (BFA 2019). For three years Zara was a resident artist at the Flower City Arts Center,  where she refined her skills and developed her present body of work. She currently works as an artist and ceramics/jewelry teacher in Rochester New York. Her work is intricate, detail oriented and aimed at showing the sumptuous nature of the body and the strength of femininity. Zara uses a combination of three-dimensional form and two dimensional imagery to create pieces that are starkly beautiful and imbued with subtle emotion.

Zara has incorporated her love for painting, drawing, jewelry and fiber arts into her wider ceramics practice; earning recognition with academic awards, exhibitions and the sale of commissioned works. Zara’s work has been exhibited in multiple juried shows throughout the years, including a BFA solo exhibition Physical Mythos, solo exhibition Narrative Threads, and numerous joint exhibitions. Most recently Zara’s work received the Ida and Elmer Louis Award at the 68th Finger Lakes Exhibition.

Zara continues to pursue and develop her ceramic career as well as further her knowledge of other artistic disciplines. She is excited to share her perspective and learn from the wider artistic community.
